Let's Turn Angst into Action!
Many Americans are feeling a strong sense of outrage over the unconstitutional actions of the administration and the actions — and inactions — of Congress in Washington, D.C.
These emotions are real. And this angst is driving a need to Do Something.
The US League of Women Voters has declared our nation to be embroiled in a constitutional crisis — a high stakes battle for the preservation of the rule of law, for the balance of power, for protection of free speech, and for the right of all citizens to vote, among other concerns.
Its mission to stand up for democracy prompted the nonpartisan League to launch Unite and Rise 8.5 to mobilize 8.5 million people using the power of voter engagement to secure our democracy.
Every local League — including the Appleton-Fox Citiesand the Winnebago CountyLeagues — will identify principles and protections of democracy for which we are passionate, and will construct clear ways individuals can "do something" meaningful to stand up for our constitutional rights.
We invite you into the conversation — to add your creativity, innovation, and energy to the movement! We challenge you to bring at least one family member, friend or colleague, whether they share your views or not, to share concerns, ideas and messages to guide our actions
President Jan Quinlan, Vice President Nancy Jones and Sue Abrahamson will be your hosts.
